Dog behaviour and training built around understanding, practical skills and the relationship.
I am a dog behaviourist and trainer based in Dorset. My work is centred on understanding why behaviour is happening, giving owners practical ways forward, and teaching skills that remain useful outside a training set-up.
MY APPROACH
Understand first. Then decide what needs to change.
I do not see behaviour as something that should automatically be suppressed because it is inconvenient. I want to know what the dog is responding to, what they have learned, what the environment is asking of them and what would make success easier. Training then becomes part of a wider plan rather than the whole explanation.
WHAT THAT MEANS
A consistent approach across behaviour and training
The service changes, but the underlying principles do not.
BEHAVIOUR
Look at the whole picture
History, emotional state, health, environment, learning and management all matter when behaviour is causing concern.
I use reward-based training and behaviour modification without relying on pain, fear or intimidation. Choice and voluntary participation matter, but so do clear skills, good management and practical coaching for the person at the other end of the lead.
BASED IN DORSET
Local, practical support
I work with clients across Dorset and nearby areas, with consultations and practical sessions taking place in the environments where the behaviour and training actually need to work.
